WHEN

17 Sep

β€œBut Jesus called them unto him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child shall in no wise enter therein.” Luke 18:16-17 KJV

πŸ’–

The Lord keeps showing me, over and over,

images of the little child that rests inside each angry man.

πŸ’–

The baby who first discovered his fingers and toes,

or laughed with glee upon his first sighting of a butterfly.

πŸ’–

The little boy who wiggled through his first haircut,

he was so proud.

πŸ’–

The little boy who brought home weed-flowers

for his mom to put in a vase.

πŸ’–

The cut-out crooked hearts

with β€œI love you, daddy” scribbled across.

πŸ’–

The little boy who wanted to be a policeman,

a fireman or the President.

πŸ’–

The little boy who learned to ride a bike

and could almost keep up with dad.

πŸ’–

The little boy who chewed wild grass

and dreamt of flying a rocket to the moon.

πŸ’–

The little boy who made a 100% on his spelling test,

but couldn’t quite figure out math.

πŸ’–

When did he turn into an angry young man,

bitter, distant and lost.

πŸ’–

When did friends become more precious than family,

no matter when, no matter where.

πŸ’–

When did Christmas cookies turn to alcohol,

Mother Goose to pornography.

πŸ’–

When did alcohol turn to drugs;

to live for, to kill for, to die for.

πŸ’–

When did skateboards turn to drive-by shootings,

picnics to funerals, love to hate.

πŸ’–

When did he become an angry young man,

falling deeper and deeper into sin, into death, into Hell.

πŸ’–

If you look close enough you can see that little boy,

through the dazed eyes of drugs.

πŸ’–

If you listen carefully you can hear that little boy crying out for help,

for peace, for love.

πŸ’–

If you hug him long enough you will feel the shield and barriers fall away

– long enough for him to know someone cares.

πŸ’–

And if you walk with him long enough you can guide him along the path

to find that little boy again.

πŸ’–

WHAT IF HE . . .

17 Sep

β€œBut my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”  Philippians 4:19Β  KJV

πŸ’•

What if He hadn’t done it that day,

Fashioned our lives with compassion and clay.

πŸ’•

What if the Garden had soon been destroyed,

Because of man’s sin against God, there deployed.

πŸ’•

What if He hadn’t called Noah to build,

If He’d thought it easier if all had been killed.

πŸ’•

What if He hadn’t called Moses to lead,

Had left wayward people to tend Pharaoh’s needs.

πŸ’•

What if He hadn’t sent Manna for food,

But waited β€˜til man proved righteous and good.

πŸ’•

What if He hadn’t sent Giants to flight,

If He hadn’t called David to stand up and fight.

πŸ’•

What if He hadn’t sent Joshua to scout,

If all those who went said there was no way out.

πŸ’•

What if He hadn’t sent people to pray,

Provide for the Prophets, to open the way.

πŸ’•

What if He hadn’t sent Jesus to die,

Then where, in God’s world, would stand you and I.

πŸ’•

What if He hadn’t resurrected that day,

Come back to earth to show us the way.

πŸ’•

And what if He hadn’t called you and I,

But left us to sin, to shame and to die.

πŸ’•

But He didn’t leave us,Β Never will the Word reads.

He stands right beside us,Β And provides all our needs.

TURNING AROUND

17 Sep

Be still, and know that I am God: . . .” Psalm 46:10

❀

I have never known the love of a natural Father.

But through the unconditional love of my children,

You have shown me how precious it can be.

❀

I have found it so very hard to trust man,

But You have shown me that love can be present,

Without performance or expectation.

❀

I have struggled through past loneliness,

But You have shown me the treasure of being alone,

And quiet before You.

❀

Thank You for turning my world around.

THE TRIAL

17 Sep

“In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried unto my God: he heard my voice out of his temple, and my cry came before him, even into his ears.” Psalm 18:6 KJV

β€»

I couldn't pray today,

The words wouldn't form in my heart.

β€»

The Scripture made no sense,

Blocks of words and numbers.

β€»

I didn't know who to call,

It all seemed so confusing.

β€»

Crying out - Lord,

What to do,

What to do.

β€»

Simple words,

A simple sacred sacrifice.

β€»

I praise You, Lord,

I thank You for this trial.

β€»

Then, in a moment,

The miracle occurred.

β€»

It was Joy,

In the height of the storm,

It was Joy.

TO BE 50

17 Sep

Hearken unto thy father that begat thee,Β and depise not thy mother when she is old.Β

Proverbs 23:22 KJV

❀

Oh, what enjoyment to be 50.

At the stroke of midnight,

I went from rebellious to eccentric,

Opinionated to wise,

Distant to decisive.

❀

I’ve seen the joy of a new century,

And remember the fear of nuclear fall-out.

❀

Saw a man walk on the moon,

Which disproved a childhood belief,

That the moon was a ball of green cheese.

❀

I’ve seen skirts go up, and down, and up again,

And pants that bell, then snuggle, and bell again.

❀

I’ve started a life without TV

And now enjoy home theatre,

In my own living room.

❀

I started with out-houses,

And ended up with 2 wonderful bathrooms,

One totally β€œMickey” and one totally β€œSports”.

As long as the water continues to go down,

And not come back up,

They can stay in the house.

❀

I’ve grown up to big bands,

Country/Western,

Folk Songs,

Rock & Roll,

And Rap.

I’ve heard it loud, I’ve heard it soft

– I prefer it soft.

❀

I’ve seen my children born and grow,

Laugh and cry.

❀

I’ve seen things that were once

So important to me,

Rest in boxes headed for a thrift shop.

❀

I’ve found the value of a 2-hour nap,

And the treasure of eating out.

❀

I still love reading a good book,

While sitting in front of a warm fire,

If it’s winter.

A cool air conditioner,

If it’s summer.

And out on the deck if it’s spring.

❀

Have I changed?

Maybe a little over the years.

But, I still wear Mickey Mouse shirts

And Eeyore overalls.

❀

I have overindulged in surrounding myself

With pets,

Still treasure my family,

And covet my β€œfree” time.

❀

What has changed?

The way you look at me.

❀

I slipped quietly into the next level of life,

And it made this wild ole’ grandma acceptable,

With just the stroke of a clock.

❀

Wouldn’t it be wonderful to be accepted

Without having to grow old?

❀  Written 11-28-2000

❀  Wow!  That was 20 years ago!!!

Other than longer naps,

nothing much has changed!!  ❀

THANK GOD

16 Sep

“Surely “the righteous shall give thanks unto thy name: the upright shall dwell in thy presence.”  Psalm 140:13 KJV

✝

In the sunrise, in the clouds above,

In the gentle lifting movement of a dove.

✝

In the quiet of a sweet sleeping child,

Thank God, Thank God.

✝

In the Stillness of a star filled sky,

In the company of loved ones on a cold night.

✝

In the riches and the fullness of life,

Thank God, Thank God.

✝

Thank God, Thank God,

For the blessings brought before us everyday.

✝

For the wonders and the peace in our hearts,

Thank God, Thank God.

✝

For the Spirit, in the hungry soul,

For the Words of truth that teach us of His love.

✝

In the fire, when the pulpit explodes.

Thank God, Thank God.

✝

In the filling of a new born child,

In the words and tongues of Angels spoken prayerfully,

For the moments when He calls out your name,

Thank God, Thank God.

SWEET PRINCE

16 Sep

Β

And “the four beasts had each of them six wings about him; and they were full of eyes within: and they rest not day and night, saying, Holy, holy, holy, Lord God Almighty, which was, and is, and is to come.”  Β Revelation 4:8Β  Β KJV

✝

Oh, that I could cup You in my hands and give to another to drink.

✝

Oh, that they could taste the sweet water that flows through

my body and trickles gently from my lips.

✝

Gentle Spirit, unbridled, yet housed within

– what peace you settle here.

✝

Kissed by Heaven

– Sweet, sweet soul.

✝

My praises could never foster a strong enough

command to properly honor you.

✝

Dearest friend – treasured Prince

– could words ever express the love

You gave to me to share.

STAND BACK

16 Sep

✝

I say stand back, stand back in the Lord.

I say stand back, stand back in the Lord.

✝

Egypt’s Red Sea seemed a mighty foe.

With Pharaoh close there seemed no place to go.

The people stood and cried aloud with fear.

Forgetting all along their Lord was there.

✝

I say stand back, stand back in the Lord.

✝

His mighty hand can move the sea from shore to shore.

✝

I say stand back, stand back in the Lord.

✝

Shielded by Armor of Faith we’ll stand.

Jericho was girded all around,

A mighty fortress set on solid ground.

If rushed the army within would abound,

By marching feet and trumpets it went down.

✝

I say stand back, stand back in the Lord.

✝

Gideon was sent to take the land,

With only three hundred men he had to stand.

With pitchers, lanterns, horns, he did God’s will,

Though all the enemy died, he did not kill.

✝

I say stand back, stand back in the Lord.

✝

Deborah sent her army off to war,

The army would not go without her near,

The chariots of iron saved not the foe,

For God provided the rain, they moved no more.

✝

I say stand back, stand back in the Lord.

✝

Joshua was sent to take Ai,

To win this one he must be very sly.

Place armies front and back, came God’s reply,

And hold your spear up high, high in the sky.

✝

I say stand back, stand back in the Lord.

✝

Do you have an enemy today,

Take your troubles to God, get down and pray,

There is nothing He can’t rise above,

He’s there to raise you up in perfect love.

✝

I say stand back, stand back in the Lord.

SACRIFICE

16 Sep

By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.”Β  Hebrews 13:15Β  KJV

✝

The Ancient of Days,

cast Himself to the earth,

in the form of a seed,

in the womb of a virgin.

✝

Subject, now, to heat and cold,

to fatigue and illness,

to prejudice and ridicule,

to suffering and pain.

✝

The Ancient of Days,

became man,

flesh, blood and Spirit;

willingly giving,

the power of deity,

for the birth of a nation.

✝

The God of Jessie,

born through the sacrifice of blood,

to become the blood sacrifice.

✝

From the promises to Adam,

to the revelation shown John,

the blood of God coursed the earth,

changing strength and direction,

at the tributary called Christ.

✝

The new stream of Christ,

fed the trees of new life,

where the roots of the old,

were washed clean.

✝

The water, most pure,

chased the stagnant pools of red,

that once rinsed man’s hands,

but touched not the soul.

✝

The water, most pure,

flowed over and cleansed,

the wounds of the past,

refreshing the hope,

of a dark, tarnished dream.

✝

The water of life,

borne from the blood,

of an innocent man,

takes sweet revenge,

on the deepest of sin.

✝

Released to be washed,

by the power of mercy,

by the treasure of grace,

it rises back up,

to the base of the cross.

✝

There, at the cross,

the blood and water,

of grace and mercy,

flows down to the earth,

as forgiven sin reaches up,

meeting at the feet of Christ.

✝

Running together they became one,

the earth shook with promise,

the sky darkened,

to reveal a new light,

and the rivers flowed,

with a new wine,

washing clean the weary souls,

of all that would reach forth,

in praise.

REVOLUTION

16 Sep

For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh:Β (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)Β  Β 2 Corinthians 10:3-4 KJV

✝

Firmly we stand,

with pure hearts,

and cleansed souls,

fire coursing through our veins,

exuding the power,

of the anointing within.

✝

Are you ready for a Revolution?

✝

At battle status,

with sword and shield,

we take our positions,

as warring spirits,

in the battle ground,

for man’s soul.

✝

The army of God,

is cleansing a path,

for the graceful steps,

of the Bride of Christ.

✝

No enemy can draw near,

no dart can reach its mark,

for the strength of David,

the wisdom of Deborah,

and the faith of John,

take authority,

over all principalities,

and powers of darkness.

✝

Stand up, child of God,

renew your mind,

take your place,

as a Christian heir,

in the righteous army,

called to demand peace,

at all costs.

✝

REVOLUTION!!
