OH, COME NOW

13 Sep

But I have said unto you, Ye shall inherit their land, and I will give it unto you to possess it, a land that floweth with milk and honey: I am the Lord your God, which have separated you from other people.” Leviticus 20:24

In the challenge of tomorrow,

The world can be so cold,

We are called to shine as beacons,

A task not easily done.

Yet we walk with pride and victory,

Because we know what’s to come,

As we’re singing hallelujah,

Oh, Lord, we’re coming home.

Oh, come now,

Sweet Spirit,

Sweet Honey from above,

Precious Bread that’s never gone.

Bring Rivers,

Of Water,

To lead me along,

As the Spirit takes me home.

A LITTLE BIT MORE

3 Nov

 I will declare your righteousness and your salvation every day, though I do not fully understand what the outcome will be.  Lord God, I will come in the power of your mighty acts, remembering your righteousness—yours alone.    Psalm 71:15-16

Lord, in my temptations you hold me,

Thru sorrows and tears You are there.

When all of the world is against me,

I truthfully know that You care.

As each day unfolds I find trials,

And burdens to heavy to bare.

I humbly come in Your presence,

And lay them before You in prayer.

I’m nothing without You beside me,

You teach me Your words that I share.

When falling, I pray that You’ll guide me,

And I’ll shine just a little bit more.

Lord, each day you give life new meaning,

My old life’s a memory gone past;

My worldly possessions lose value,

Your love is all that will last.

You touch me each morning with fire,

And rivers of water run thru;

I can’t even think of tomorrow,

Without knowing that I have You.

You’ve lifted me out of dark shadows,

And endless confusion and strife;

Your mercy and grace has renewed me,

And shown me the beauty of life.

Lord, now has come time to witness,

And share the beauty I’ve found;

It’s happiness, free for the asking,

Where joy and blessings abound.

I’ll teach with honest persuasion,

Myself, an example of praise;

Teaching Your word and Your promise,

Your miracles, works and sound faith.

I’ll conquer if You stand beside me,

No enemy dares to cause harm;

Your children will follow in victory,

Wrapped in Your arms safe and warm.

RESTING WITH MARY

21 Aug

Martha and Mary with Jesus

“But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.”  LUKE 10:42

Forever in my mind rests the sweet fragrance of a summer rose,

    the cool soft pedals caress the tips of my fingers,

    the perfectly formed flower nestles gently in my memory

  –  ready to rise at a moments request.

Though the rose is gone

  –  the memory,

    ever much as sweet,

    cannot be taken away.

Then stands the Rose of Sharon

  –  a tender fragrance rising sweetly in my soul.

    A cool, soft caress that soothes my weary mind

    and removes the torments of the day,

    nestled gently and preciously inside this child,

    where He cannot be taken away.

The words of the Master hide safely in my heart,

    prepared to flow forth in the time of need.

    Lying safely in the arms of the Spirit,

    residing tenderly within this child.

Though the wooden structure of the Church

    may be destroyed,

    and every book burned,

    inside this child rests a temple

    with God’s Word that cannot be taken away.

And though this body may be taken,

  –  what victory, what joy  –

    for that which rests inside my heart and soul

    will be brought to life in that Holy City,

  when I meet Jesus, face to face.
