GENTLE BREATH

13 Oct

He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler. Psalm 91:4

A rush of angel’s wings,

Soothing,

Drawing away,

The stress of yesterday.

Angels of protection,

Wrap your wings about,

That no evil,

May Penetrate.

Gentle breath of God,

Wash over,

Cleanse – Fill – Release.

Precious Holy Spirit,

Heal the broken walls,

Fill the voids,

With Your joy.

Release Your anointing,

To bring a new walk,

Stepping in the footprints,

Of the Father.

** Prayer – May your time with Jesus be tender, precious and everlasting. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

COMMUNICATION

13 Oct

Words, Actions, Prayers

Let the words of my mouth, and the meditation of my heart, be acceptable in thy sight, O LORD, my strength, and my redeemer.   Psalms 19:14 (KJV)

Probably the most difficult challenge as human beings is communication. It would be simple if we could rely on verbal language to express everything we need to communicate, but words come with multiple meanings, sarcasm aside, and can only be truly understood with tone of voice and emotional body language.

As wonderful as email, texting and IMing is, it can be easily misunderstood. I’ve been told people don’t know if I’m angry or teasing in my emails, because they can’t hear my voice inflection; they can’t see the twinkle in the eye or the suppressed smile.

God gave us so much more to communicate with than mere words. God gave us emotions; explosive and tender. God gave us body movements to emphasize our words – but even more, God gave us touch. God gave us a tender caress, a gentle pat, a moment of understanding through direct eye contact that communicates far more than reams of paper could ever express. He gave us the ability to hold and comfort the broken, then jump and rejoice with the excited. He gave us the “parent face” to correct our children, and the “I love you” face that can be seen across crowds.

God also gave us the ability to communicate by our chosen actions. How much clearer can you communicate love than by handing a hungry child a plate of warm food? How clearer can you say you care than by putting a warm jacket or blanket around the shoulders of the homeless? How much clearer can you speak love and friendship than to sit quietly with one who grieves?

Greater yet is the communication that not only says “I care,” but says “My Father in Heaven cares and He is with you always.” Prayer is the ultimate communication because it opens the loves, desires, visions, joys, sadness, pains, illnesses, and brokenness to the one true God who can make a change. Prayer takes the situation directly to the throne room of God. We can pray alone and intercede. We can pray with the person individually. We can pray in a team or for the person in a circle. We can pray in corporate prayer, bombarding Heaving until the hand of God moves.

Communication is using the whole person (body, soul, spirit) to touch a whole person or community. It is not sterile words on a page. It is not long distance ministry – it can’t be. Communication is you and me and God intimately touching the world.

** NOTE:  Since this was written we have been given the world of emojis and gifs!  That does help in texting and messaging, but there is still the issue with the email having a bit of confusion.

CHANGES

12 Oct

And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God.    Matthew 3:16

Life races by in a smattering of light and noise,

Glimpses of love and warmth stir past.

How could I have missed the changes?

Oh, to stand still and recognize the fragrance of time.

To linger long enough to be refreshed in a spring rain.

To notice that flowers grow wild in a field.

Help me, Lord, to stop and see,

The simple treasures,

You’ve given to me.

CALLING

12 Oct

Pray without ceasing. In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. Quench not the Spirit.   1 Thessalonians 5:17-19

I see Your smile in the reds and golds of dawn,

Your pleasure in the stillness of the waking morning,

You’re calling me, Lord,

Pray.

I see Your hand calm the stress of the moment,

Your tender assurance as situations explode,

You’re calling me, Lord,

Pray.

I see Your will in the difficult changes of life,

Your plan unfolds to make a path for my feet,

You’re calling me, Lord,

Pray.

I see Your peace in the quiet of the night,

Your Word rests gently in my arms, in my heart,

You’re calling me, Lord,

Pray.

FALLEN FRUIT

7 Oct

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. Galatians 5:22-23

Stepping up to an office,

Stationed by God,

I stand in the valley of change.

Casting down yesterday’s garments,

Putting on the mantle of righteousness,

Sending out the proclamation,

The ways of the past are cut off,

Tomorrow we walk anew.

Many are the voices of comfort,

That come against me.

My shield drops in disappointment.

The arrows of discontent,

And false accusation wound me,

Causing my fruit to be pierced,

And fall down around my feet.

Then, I recognize the voice,

Not the voice of the brethren,

Only the vessel,

Confused for a season.

It is the voice of the enemy.

I cast off hurt as I raise my shield.

Many fruit have fallen,

My branches are broken and splintered,

But next to the wounds are buds of hope,

Watered by the words of the spirit,

Preparing the branches for an abundance,

Of new fruit.

DANCE

7 Oct

Let them praise his name in the dance: let them sing praises unto him with the timbrel and harp.   Psalm 149:3

Dance, Baby, Dance

Reach to the Sky,

Eyes set on Heaven,

Let your Fears fly.

Drop down the grave clothes,

Shed them – break free,

New Joy – New Laughter,

Dance now for Me.

Dance, Baby, Dance

Reach to the Sky,

Eyes set on Heaven,

Let your Soul fly.

All chains are Broken,

Past debts are gone,

Your tears are bottled,

You’re never alone.

Dance, Baby, Dance

Reach to the Sky,

Eyes set on Heaven,

Let your Heart fly.

Clothed in New Garments,

Love leads your way,

God Kissed – My Daughter,

Hear what I say.

Dance, Baby, Dance

Reach to the Sky,

Eyes set on Heaven,

Know that You’re MINE.

COME YE

7 Oct

And God hath set some in the church, first apostles, secondarily prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, then gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.   1 Corinthians 12:28 (KJV)

Sun glistens through the flowing golden honey,

Slowly – deliberately – gracefully,

It edges downward toward the earth.

The secret of the hive is revealed,

The source of perfect sweetness at the hand of God.

There it glistens – calling to a tender heart,

taste and see” – “taste and see”

the incomparable savor of God.

Come ye born to Apostle.

Come ye born to Teach.

Reach forth ye Shepherds and collect enough to satisfy your flock.

Help him to carry – those called as Servants.

Come ye – those called to pray the gift of Healing into this treasure.

Multiply the pots – those called to Miracles.

Prepare the way – those called to chart the Path.

Speak the Word of deliverance – in the tongues of angels,

That no soul will go untouched.

Raise up your voice in harmonious worship,

Preparing the Heavenlies.

Let the song of the Lord flow forth,

Golden – Sweet – Pure

As God’s rich nectar.

Fear not the gifts God has birthed inside you.

Fear not the power of the Anointing as it flows through you.

Be not concerned at the doubting words of man,

they understand not.

Speak the Word with a tongue touched with honey,

Pure – untainted – deliberate.

Be the untouched – untouchable Gospel,

To The WORLD.

Amen!

VISION

6 Oct

Where there is no vision, the people perish: but he that keepeth the law, happy is he. Proverbs 29:18

Studying the old and new testaments makes it clear that not everyone wants or seeks a vision, but many choose to live a day-by-day mundane life. It seems that only those who became leaders had any desire to look past the next crop cycle or traditional holiday.

The half million that followed Moses around and around the wilderness lost their vision of leaving Egypt for their homeland the moments the cucumbers, melons, leeks and onions ran out. Vision Change – let’s go back to slavery and familiar hardships because we understood them AND the food was better. Gracious!

David’s army’s vision was to do whatever David told them to do; try to stay alive, and maybe, someday, see David as King. Most men in the Bible tended crops or flocks. Most women prepared meals, made clothing and raised children; day-by-day-by-day. The Pharisees and Sadducees were content to sit at the temple all day, every day, discussing their beliefs with each other.

Clearly scripture indicates that God gives us ALL dreams and visions. By putting our faith in action we can make those dreams and visions a reality. Why do so many choose the “ordinary life”? There is story after story in the Bible of ordinary people doing exceptional things. Many of those stories speak of visitations by an angel, or a prophet; some even heard the voice of God. Does it take a supernatural experience for an ordinary person to step-up to the skills God placed in them at birth?

Joseph began having dreams as a boy; he was born to a life as a shepherd. When Joseph shared his dreams with his brothers, even though he didn’t understand what they meant, his brothers began to hate him; even his father scolded him. Did Moses dream of his future when he was a boy? Did King David??

What happens to people that keeps them from following the dreams and visions that God places deep inside of them as children? Why do we choose to be content with the ordinary when we have been called to be extraordinary? Are we so afraid of failure before people that we won’t take a chance at success before God?

God took Esther and saved a nation through fasting and prayer. God took Rahab and saved the spies sent by Joshua; against the direct order of the King of Jericho, also saving Rahab’s family, by clever maneuvers. God took Noah and built an ark with carpentry skills God spoke to him; skills never used before, to build something called a boat in a time when it never rained. God took Peter, an impulsive and ambitious fisherman, and built a church. Ordinary people – given a great vision.

Just imagine what would happen if we all responded to God’s dreams and visions as the boy Samuel responded to the voice of God, “Speak, for thy servant heareth.” How long did Samuel have to wait for the vision God called him to? How many years did Joseph wait for his vision and promise to come to pass? How many years did Moses wait before he was called to his position, and then again how much longer before God allowed him to find the Promised Land? How many years from the day that David was anointed with oil by the prophet Samuel before he was anointed King of Israel in Hebron? How many years have you waited?

In 1998, 12 years ago, God gave me a vision; we call it Shiloh Spiritual Growth Ministries. A year ago God gave us more of the pieces of the vision. We work daily with the portion of the vision God has allowed us to begin; we wait. We know one day God will say, “It’s time,” and our full vision will begin to unfold. What has God placed in your heart that you have been pushing aside, feeling that it is only a silly dream?

Father, help us to always hear Your voice, see Your visions and dream Your dreams. Speak, for thy servants listen.

WHICH WAY

6 Oct

. . . and God said . . . “ Genesis

My compass spins –

 North, South, West, East,

 Back and forth,

 Forward and Back.

I turn this way and that,

 Trying to find True North.

 Which way Lord?

I step left –

 The road falls away.

I step right –

 The wall is so high.

Which way Lord,

 I’m so tired?

My compass spins –

 The world spins around me.

 Echoes of light shoot past,

Echoes of the past speed through my mind.

 Which way Lord?

God, I’m so weary –

 I can’t hear Your voice.

I’m bombarded with the noise of daily life.

How do I know which voice is you?

 I’m spinning,

 I’m spinning.

A gentle hand stops my feet,

 Sweet music fills my ears,

The voice of God shouts forth,

Through the words of the prophet.

Be still, Be still, Be still.

There is THE voice –

 Still and small,

“Face your compass toward me,” it says.

 “Face your compass toward me.”
Tell my children I wait for them –

 To plant their feet,

 To plant My Word.

 Tell my Children.”

True North!!

INTEGRITY

29 Sep

Children are a heritage from the Lord, offspring a reward from him.

Like arrows in the hands of a warrior are children born in one’s youth.

Psalm 127:3-5

…..

The Shuttle that draws the thread

in the tapestry of a child’s life.

..

Pulled by the anointing

of compassion.
